Aptos: Innovative Methods of Accessing Cultural Heritage for Visually Impaired People

APTOS aims at harmonizing the national with the European policy on providing accessibility to the cultural reserve for people with special needs while offering the pleasure and the opportunity to enjoy it through novel approaches. It aims at reducing the cultural exclusion while strengthening the relationship between the visually impaired people and the museums. Additionally, visually impaired people will benefit not only by understanding the cultural-historical background offered by the proposed methodology but also, they will enhance their sense of participation in a society. Furthermore, the proposed ways of accessing the cultural reserve can be more widely accepted, since the removal of the ‘Do not touch’ ban in conjunction with the narrative enrichment is something that triggers the general interest and the further involvement of the public into issues related with cultural heritage and history.
